Trek-ked

Just a post script to the fall that I had with my bike back in January.

Initially Clarence Street cleared my bike as safe to ride again. The Trek expert then changed his mind and I was offered the chance to get a replacement frame for between A$3000 and A$3400, and it would take several months. I chose not to accept that.

I had the frame brought to Toronto and reviewed at the shop where I purchased it, where I had hoped for a better offer. It didn't happen.

For C$2600, I could get a replacement frame in about two weeks. Again I refused the offer. Trek offered a much lower quality frame when I asked about other options. Trek wouldn't explain how the replacement value was calculated.

Meantime I found out that Scott replaces frames under its crash replacement warranty at US$700. That's a huge discount.

Just passing along this experience of mine. As you might be able to determine, I have no plans to ever ride another Trek.
