Three entered and three first-place finishes were recorded on a very wet and windy day on the NSW Central Coast at The Entrance.
The race start was delayed by about 25 minutes as organisers were overwhelmed by entrants, running out of bib numbers and having to resort to writing numbers on arms.
As a Hash Harriers event, it was low key. The start was a simple: ``Go''. And both the 9km and the 21km races started at the same time. The majority of people were running the half marathon.
It was stormy from start to finish. The turnaround point for the 9k suddenly appeared, a marshall directing those running short back from where we came. Both Gina Unwin and Tim Moore (me) headed back to town.
Gina took first place in the 30-39 age group; I took the 40-49 title. As we celebrated Margreet Dietz was surging to the lead in the half marathon, taking control before the turnaround. She was determined to set the pace.
Gina, Dingo and I waited patiently at the finish line. And then she appeared in the distance, leading. She took out the women's title!
Three trophies for three wet and wind blown competitors!! Thanks to Dingo for keeping us focused, and dry!!
