I just saw this news in the latest Tri Travel notice:
The inaugural Ironman China will be held on April 23, 2006, in the resort city of Sonya on Along Bay on the South China Sea. The event will have 75 Hawaii slots for and will offer a $75,000 professional prize purse.
Race-day temperatures are expected to be approximately 26.6 degrees C or 79 degrees F. Athletes can register now by visiting http://www.ironmanchina.com/. The 2006 event will be capped at 1,500 athletes.
A two-loop swim in the South China Sea, a ``very fast'' bike course and a flat marathon course!!
