Response to JH

Ok, observations are interesting. How about some real life information? These points and questions are for you John.

1. How often do you stretch? How long? How many stretches? How about having a stretching session midway through an easy Thursday bike after a long run Wednesday to give us some ideas and to review our technique? Or at another time?

2. What is your post training/post race nutrition? What do you do to rehydrate and to replenish carbs and protein? And we need some non High Five options as most of us don't have ready access to the supply that you have.

3. In taking caffeine while training, how much when I'm tired? How often during a training session? To simulate what would happen in a race? So once started, don't stop. Or space it out more - instead of caf gel after caf gel, can I go caf/regular/regular/ caf/regular/regular etc . Keeping in mind that the caf gels are expensive and some of us can't afford to go through box after box of caf gels. There is a budget that most of us have to live with.

4. Consistent training is the key. We all know it, that's why we train with you and the group. However sometimes life DOES interfere. Most of us have jobs that require travel or early morning meetings or late meetings, or both, and so sometimes it's not possible to do a session. And then there are family obligations.

Most people don't realize that you are busy with High Five, I know, but you also have more flexibility with your day than most of us. Help us find a way to train more effectively. We all want to succeed.

5. Race day nutrition. Ok, some people may not be using proper nutrition in a race - perhaps most of us. So why not give us better guidance before a long training session - what are you going to eat this Saturday for instance? Perhaps add that to the weekend training sked. Do you carbo load before a heavy weekend of training? What do you eat for breakfast before a 160k pacey ride and during the ride?

And better yet, how about telling us exactly what you ate and drank and the pace you raced at on the weekend? Or getting the same from those in the group who had superb performances and then analysing them for all of us? This is the type of information that I would like to know.
