Allen on nutrition

Ok, just one more pointer to the magazine, you can check it out online or get your own copy when they arrive in Oz.

Mark Allen has a few thoughts on nutrition that might be of interest for those of you having some race day issues.

*Allen says he experienced nausea in 11 of the 12 Kona races he did

He links the reason to the difference in what the lab recommends for intake and what a person can digest during the intensity of the race - adding that you can TRAIN your body to absorb more calories and more fluid

He also thinks that pre-race carbo loading is "old school" and that all you need to do is eat fairly normal in the three days leading to race day, perhaps with a bit more of a focus on carbs and eating a little extra.
