Analysing the Numbers

So was the new course tougher? Here's what a comparison of some times from this year's course and the final year at Forster, keeping in mind there was more time to finish at Port Macquarie.

In 2005 at Forster, 1466 athletes completed the race. The person who came in at 733, or the mid point, finished in 11:40:48.

At Port Mac, there were 1448 finishers. At the moment, the results are divided by gender: the mid-point finishing time for women was 12:38:04 and for men 11:45:41.

In terms of those athletes finishing in less than 10 hours, at Forster 10.2 per cent achieved this distinction. At Port Mac, 2.4 per cent of women finished sub 10 and 8.1 per cent of men.

For those finishing sub 11, at Forster 34.2 per cent of all competitors did so. At Port Mac, 11.3 per cent of women crossed the line in less than 11 hours and 28.9 per cent of men.
